Municipal Library Gallery, Leiria – Portugal

Designed to be a narrative that we want to tell, this exhibition intersects images and titles that intertwine, taking as a starting point memory, the ancestry that leads us to the present, the reflection on who we are, our roots, our identity and personality.

This exhibition, with an autobiographical tone, reflects on the problem of human existence, exploring its limits, from beauty to the sometimes visceral intensity of this experience that is being a person. The artist’s works feature themes such as power relations, fragility, existential pain, childhood, hope and the meaning of life.

Sara Miguel’s self-portraits are not portraits of her physical appearance. We could define them as psychoanalytic analyses or the exploration through drawing and painting of a certain emotional state, memory, or as configurations of contemporary problems.
